Exclusion from the October 8th 2008 CFS-NL debates

2008-10-02
Hello everyone, Kim Cameron from MUNSU revealed to me 2 days ago that because the criteria for the October 8th 2008 CFS-NL post-secondary debate at MUN is that you have to be a national party and have at least 1 sitting MP, Greg Byrne and Les Coultas have been excluded from the debate. (If you don't already know, the former is the NL First Party candidate for St.John's South-Mount Pearl and St.John's East).

To add insult to injury, Shannon Tobin(the Progressive Canadian Party candidate in St.John's East, current President of the Canadian Association of Political Science Students, and former MUN Student) has also been excluded from the debate.

Based on this decision, NL post-secondary students need to lobby for a reversal in their exclusion of these 3 candidates. If they fail to do so, I will be boycotting the CFS-NL debate, and i'd advise NL First Party members, supporters, and executive to do the same.

Why? Because it's time CFS-NL answers this question: why would you exclude a former MUN student and two candidates from a new political party, whose sole purpose is to represent NL's interests in Ottawa? Is it because CFS-NL is simply a tool for the CFS to impose its "Ottawa Knows Best" mentality, or are they using the excuse of "they'd be too many candidates" to hide the fact that they really favour the status quo of national parties, while claiming to represent the interests of NL post-secondary students.
